I watched tv only slightly more than I read books this year. (I’m starting to to wonder exactly what it is I did with 2021.) The old standards: This is Us and Handmaid’s Tale were incredible. Grey’s Anatomy is still ticking along. But three comedies were the shows that defined my year. In no particular order (except that Ted Lasso was best):
Ted Lasso: How can anyone not love this?
Reservation Dogs: An (almost) all indigenous cast created by an all indigenous production team, filmed in Oklahoma, and as funny as it is heartwarming.
Derry Girls: My friend Jason told me I would love it. Never in my long history of watching television have I laughed so hard, so soon. Within a minute of the first episode, my abs were hurting. I’m looking forward to the final season in 2022.
