This is my second annual “Best Of” series of year-end posts. Some, I assume, will be brief. Some longer. All, varying degrees of serious. I’ll try my best not to use the words or phrases “unprecedented,” “new normal,” or “unpresidented”, but I can’t make any promises.

No one told me that being an adult child of an aging parent is roughly 90% reminding them to stay hydrated. But it’s what I do. All that talking about hydration also serves the purpose of reminding me to stay hydrated. This year I decided to go full on European and drink my water mostly with bubbles. (Or, “with gas” as some of the waiters in Scandinavia like to ask.) The cheapest, and best, I have found is HEB Sparkling Water, and in 2020 I became addicted to the burn. I prefer unflavored, unsweetened, but a recent shortage of that iteration drove me to unsweetened lime, which is acceptable. I drink my weight in that stuff every week, and for that it was my #12 favorite thing about 2020.
